What is Uji Matcha?

Uji Matcha is a premium Japanese green tea powder made using a traditional method passed down for centuries in Kyoto’s Uji region.

How It’s Made

Only the finest tea leaves are used—cut into small pieces about 5mm in size, with stems and veins removed. 
These are then carefully ground into an ultra-fine powder using a stone mill.
To protect the vivid green color and delicate aroma, the leaves are ground very slowly without generating heat. In fact, a single stone mill can produce only about 35 grams per hour. That is why matcha is so luxurious and rare.
