Oyako Hojicha (Parent and Child Roasted Green Tea)

This unique hojicha is made from tea leaves that combine the richness of last year’s mature leaves (the “parent”) with the fresh, tender new sprouts of this year (the “child”). Together, they are carefully harvested and roasted to bring out the signature aroma and smooth, comforting taste that hojicha is loved for.

Horii Shichimeien is a historic Uji tea producer located near the Uji Byōdōin Temple in Kyoto, Japan. 
The name “Shichimeien” refers to the original Seven Famous Tea Gardens of Uji established during the Muromachi period under the Ashikaga shogunate.
Today, Horii Shichimeien preserves one of these original estates—the Okunoyama Tea Garden—and continues to cultivate Uji tea under carefully preserved traditional methods.
